Last Stand Environments

Last Stand is a Mixed Reality zombie shootout game, with the concept of PvPvZ (Player vs Player vs Zombie). It is set in multiple realistic mall environments. This game was created for the Quest 3. I was the sole environment artist for the original mall and the cinema mall, deciding the over all look with Paul Ellinor (Lead Artist) and Alex Burnett (Level Designer) I created most models and materials, worked on placement, set dressing and lighting. With some 3D props created by Kristina Jonaityte: https://www.artstation.com/kristina_jonaityte

The first environment created for Last Stand was The mall. There is a large 3D sign for Coffin Coffee, featuring a large golden skull mug. They were celebrating their grand opening as the zombie apocalypse started.

One of the player shops, with the shutter closed. There are empty displays, overgrown plants and a knocked over vending machine to suggest that the mall has been abandoned for a while.

A view of the other side of the mall, showing the other player's shop and an escalator leading from the upper floor. There are smashed parts of wall that the zombies can invade the player shop through.

Some fictional movie posters that I digitally painted for the cinema level. One features images of my two cats: Goblin and Pumpkin. The other features an idea that me and (concept artist) Gabriella Wouts came up with when working on The Cabin.

The second environment is the cinema level. This is a lot more art deco in style and features a large illuminated cinema under a huge glass dome ceiling (Loosely based on crystal maze).

On the opposite end of the cinema there is a large golden bear statue and some light up advertisement boards (created by Kristina Jonaityte) in front of the elevators. The two paths lead down to more shops.

Behind the player there is a dull, dirty store room thats full of old shelves, spare mannequins and general clutter. I wanted to capture the contrast between the public facing areas and staff areas in retail.
